Billie Gene Sain Miller was born on April 17, 1931 to Herman and Thelma (Brooks) Sain in Jonah, Texas.
After a brief illness, her eternal life began on the evening of Monday, February 5 th when she peacefully joined her husband, Wesley, of 59 years, her parents, and numerous family members who preceeded her in death.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, all of Taylor; Pam & husband, Bill Mikulencak; Moppy & husband, Mickey Miller; Heather & husband, James Klotz.
Her grandchildren include Chris & Kate Mikulencak, Mason & Beth Miller, Tessa & David Daniel, Meghan Klotz, Molly & Danny Adams and Tyler & Julia Klotz.
Billie’s great grandchildren include Ella & Will Mikulencak, Brayden Jarosek, Ava & Taggert Daniel, Presley, Cameron & John Miller Adams and McKenna Miller.
Her sisters include Mary Owen, Susie Peterson and Kitty Vincik, and sister-in-law, Polly Miller, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Billie was the rock strong foundation for the Miller clan and provided strength, support and advice for them all throughout the years. Billie and Wesley owned Wesley’s Grocery store (across from Memorial football field) for 24 years. The entire family played a role in working at Wesley’s throughout the years.
As a result, most Taylorites would refer to Billie as “Mrs. Wesley” when they would visit with her. Those that knew her in later years, referred to her as “Grandmother”. She responded to “Grandmother” as a badge of honor, not only from family members, but friends, as well.
The Wesley Miller Memorial Scholarship was established by Billie in 2010 after the death of Wesley. In order to financially support the annual scholarship, a golf tournament evolved. During the tournament, Billie Gene, aka Mrs. Wesley, could be found collecting money for the “In the circle” opportunity that the hundreds of golfers participated in at the annual event.
Billie loved to travel and began her annual girls’ trips in 2010. She picked the location and the trip was on for Billie and her daughters. After a few years, the granddaughters were invited and officially earned the title of “cat herders” for the group. Billie’s final adventure was to Albequerque for the Hot Air Balloon Festival in October, 2017 and the sons-in-law got to experience the adventure with them.
Billie was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor where she took great honor in serving church members through the Ruth Circle by providing meals for bereaved families following a funeral. Her sisters in the Ruth Circle include Jeannie Schneider, Mae Teggeman, Gladys Townsend, Inez Sladek, Grace Bulgerin, Marcella Schoener and Terry Abert. Her treasured friendship with Pastor George Qualley and wife Elaine was truly a “Godsend” for Billie, especially through the past several weeks. The spiritual support provided comfort to Billie’s family and allowed them to celebrate her life.
Pallbearers include grandsons Chris Mikulencak, Mason Miller, Tyler Klotz, Danny Adams, David Daniel and Billie and Wesley’s godson, Brian Brinkmeyer.
A special thanks to the Taylor SPJST Rehabilitation staff for the excellent care provided Billie during her short time as a resident.
