Betty Sakewitz

Betty Lou Czimskey-Sakewitz, 83, of Taylor, Texas passed away with her family by her side on Monday morning May 23, 2022.

Betty was born August 25, 1938 in Beyersville, Texas to Bertha (Thonig) and Louis Czimskey.  She graduated from Thrall High School in 1956, and soon met the love of her life Kermit Sakewitz at the Wagon Wheel Dance Hall in Beyersville. Soon afterwards they were married and started a family. As a stay-at-home mom, with the occasional part-time job, she managed to help raise four loving children as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved cooking for family and friends and welcomed everyone to her table. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, but one of her favorite past-times was to attend her three sons’ baseball games. She loved dancing to country and western music with Kermit. She loved to go camping and fishing, go to garage sales and BBQ/Chili cook-offs, put together puzzles, and spend time with her husband, family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Bertha (Thonig) Czimskey, husband Kermit Sakewitz, and sister-in-law Jane Czimskey.

Survivors include brothers Royce and wife Pat Czimskey of Waco, Ralph Czimskey of Rockdale, Mike and wife Marcie Czimskey of McGregor, daughter Kim Sakewitz of Taylor, sons Brian Sakewitz of Taylor, Kirby Sakewitz & Andrea Cuba of Taylor, and Clay and wife Wendy Sakewitz of Taylor, Steve and Pamela Lawhon of Taylor. Grandchildren Lacie Sladek & Jose Aleman, Coty Sladek & Darrell Rasberry, Sarah Sakewitz, Evan Sakewitz, Carter and wife Haley Sakewitz, Cullen and wife Destiny Sakewitz, Eric Brooks, Dawson Brooks, and Keragan Brooks, Braedan Lawhon, Ian and Maisen Rucker, Kristen and Ryan Lindemann, and Madison and BJ Tealer. Great Grandchildren Eliana, Nathan, Jeremiah and Devin Aleman. Casen Jewett. Charlee and twins Emery and Avery Stone, Baleigh Rasberry. Lane Sakewitz, Grant Sakewitz, Kennedy Lindemann, Chandler Rucker, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
