Ben Gilbert Faltesek

October 9, 1938 — October 19, 2023

Ben Gilbert Faltesek of Taylor, Texas, born October 9, 1938, in Thrall, Texas, departed this life peacefully on October 19, 2023. Ben was raised near Rice's Crossing, attended Taylor High School, and served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963 and was stationed in Korea. He worked 30 years and retired from ALCOA in 1994, then became self-employed driving tractors and ranching. Ben loved being outdoors and working on his property, garden, vehicles or on any project anyone needed help with. Ben was an easy going and patient man. He was always ready to sit and have a drink, cook something on the pit or just chit chat. He loved his animals, family and especially his wife of 59 years. They spent over twenty years living in the country and enjoying life and each other. He was a lifelong member of the Taylor Brethren Church.

Ben was preceded in death by parents, Vince and Alice (Shiller) Faltesek; and brothers, Tom, Vince and Jerry Faltesek; and sister, Mary Kotrla. He was also preceded by brothers-in-law, Edwin Kotrla and Joe Bracewell; and sister-in-law, Linda Faltesek.

Ben leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Sue Faltesek; son, Randy and wife, Gretchen Faltesek; son, Gary and wife, Teresa Faltesek; grand children, Jacob, Noah, and Morgan Faltesek and partner, Jonathon Crouch; and great grandchildren, Adrian and Shelby; sister, Alice Bracewell; brother, Alvin Faltesek and wife, Sandra; sisters-in-law, Kathy Faltesek, Margie Faltesek and Shirley Crow. Ben was blessed to have many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday October 25th at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Funeral Service will be at the Taylor Brethren Church Thursday October 26th at 10:00 a.m., followed by internment at the Taylor City Cemetery. A lunch will follow immediately after the internment at the Taylor Brethren Church fellowship hall.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of the Taylor SPJST Skilled Nursing Center for their compassionate and professional care and the amazing team at Concho Hearts Hospice. We want to recognize our love and appreciation for Janie Whitley who came into Ben’s life to help him in so many ways over the last year.

Beloved husband, father, brother, Gramps, and friend, you will be deeply missed for your kindness, generosity, patience, love and care for family and friends.

Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed and very dear.

For those wishing, memorial contributions can be made to Taylor Brethren Church Vision Fund.
