Beatrice Zimmerhanzel

April 15, 1929 — December 18, 2020

Beatrice Otillie Zett Zimmerhanzel of Taylor, Texas went to be with our Lord on December 18, 2020.

Beatrice was born April 15, 1929 to Rudolph and Albina (Pustejovsky) Zett on the family farm near Granger, Texas. She graduated from Granger High School and attended Nixon Clay Business College. She married her adoring husband, Paul Peter Zimmerhanzel Sr. on August 26, 1947 in the SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX after he had returned from serving his country during World War II. They always enjoyed their times in Supper Club, Dance Club, 42 Club and regular Friday night dinners out with family and friends. As an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Saint Ann’s Altar Society, Beatrice always remained true to her faith as a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Taylor. She was employed as a secretary in the American National Insurance Office in Austin, in the bookkeeping department of First-Taylor National Bank and as a bookkeeper for the Taylor Auction Barn. In their early years of marriage, Beatrice & Paul owned and operated Circleville Store. But her greatest achievement in life was taking care of her beautiful family and watching her legacy grow on their homeplace in Circleville, TX.

Beatrice is survived by her cherished children, Paul Peter Zimmerhanzel, Jr. and Cheryl Zimmerhanzel Scruggs, both of Taylor; and her grandchildren, Stacy Stork & husband, Jeffery of Taylor, Heidi Altman & husband, Brett of Taylor, Phillip Zimmerhanzel & wife, Traci of Round Rock, and Scott Scruggs & wife, Nicole of Georgetown. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren who will all deeply miss their “Mammaw”: Dylan Stork & wife Lauryn, Garrett Stork, Ryan, Brady, Leah, and Claire Altman, Tyler and Sydney Zimmerhanzel, and Cole and Kinsley Scruggs; her sister, Valerie Zett Vrabel of Austin, and sisters-in-law, Alice Zett of Taylor and Agnes Zimmerhanzel Cook of Austin.

Beatrice is welcomed to Heaven by her parents; her loving husband of forty-nine years; her siblings, Anna Zett, Christopher Zett  & wife, Anita, Benjamin Zett & wife, Mary, Daniel Zett & wife, Edith, Connie Bartosh & husband, Rick, Adelaide Adamek  & husband, AJ and Ralph Zett; her son-in-law, Steven Scruggs; and her daughter-in-law, Jaime Moore Zimmerhanzel and in-laws, Charlie Zimmerhanzel & wife, Angel, Van Zimmerhanzel & wife, Alma, Joe Zimmerhanzel & wife, Elsie, Emma Weiss & husband, Ewald, Mary Solansky, and Herbert Cook, Sr.

Beatrice’s greatest joy in life was watching her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces grow up. Countless photographs of her family and friends adorned her bookcase – usually accompanied by fond, vivid stories. Any person that had the pleasure of crossing her path was met with her timeless warm and welcoming spirit. She never lost her unique ability to make every person feel “Precious,” genuinely loved, and cared for.

The family would like to thank the SPJST Assisted Living and Nursing Home staff and Dr. Nathan Cohen for all the kindness and care they provided.

Pallbearers will be Brett Altman, Scott Scruggs, Dylan Stork, Garrett Stork, Jeff Stork, Doug Vrabel, Ricky Vrabel, Tommy Zett, & Phillip Zimmerhanzel.
