Anna Margaret Maaske

Anna Margaret Maaske 67, of Bartlett passed away on April 30,2020.

Anna Margaret Maaske was born July 25, 1952 in Bartlett Texas to the late Margaret Bozeman and Aubrey Messer. Anna attended the Booker T. Washington School for the African American community due to segregation in Stamford, TX in 1957. She moved on to continue her education at Booker T. Washington School in Bartlett, TX in 1967. She earned her GED diploma at the Temple College, formerly known as Temple Junior College.

Anna worked for the school district in Sweetwater as a crossing guard, she has worked locally here in Bartlett at USPS, First National Bank of Bartlett, Will -O-Bell Nursing Home and Scott and White Hospital, Santa Fe Hospital of Temple Tx and American National Insurance where she retired from after 15 years of service.

She joined the Grand Courts Order of Calanthe in Bartlett like her mother Margaret.  She was a member of the Mt. Rose Baptist Church in Sweetwater and the Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Bartlett.

Anna is survived by her sister Brenda Morrison (Holland Tx), brother Charles Burleson (Houston Tx), one daughter Jocqueline Letha Atkins-Carter of Red Oak, Texas, three sons Eric Jones of Euless Texas, Norris Atkins of Austin, Texas, and Plez Atkins Ill of Hempstead Texas. 8 grandchildren Destiney Jones, Kevon Muller, Jelaine Jones, Jaxon Jones, Nadia Carter-Crawford, Nia Carter, Kaneshia Atkins-Kelley (husband Bethel) Darius Anderson,3 great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, and special friends who cared deeply for her.

Saturday, May 9, 2020 11:00 am to 11:45 am at Providence Funeral Home Taylor, Texas.  People need to view and exist the building immediately due to COVID-19 restrictions. Private Family service is 12noon.
