Angeline Lucile (Lucy) Conn Mokry went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2024. Lucy was born on March 30, 1939, at her parents’ home in Granger, TX.
She attended school in Granger and graduated with a scholarship to a business college in Austin, TX. While she was in high school, she was also named Poppy Queen and rode in a parade as such. After graduation she moved to Austin to attend Business College and in order to stay in Austin while attending Business College, she lived with a family and helped with cooking and watching their children to cover her room and board. She went on to hold several Executive Secretary positions throughout her working career mainly with the City of Austin to include working for one of the Assistant City Managers for several years. She was proud of her accomplishments and the high-ranking officials she worked for.
She met the love of her life, Gilbert Wesley Mokry, while they were both living in Granger. Once she graduated from Business College, she and Gilbert were married on May 10, 1958, and settled in Taylor, TX.
Lucy and Gilbert had four children and four grandchildren.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Mokry, Sr., her parents Henry Foy Conn and Nellie Mae Conn; her sister Martha (Connie) Goolsby and spouse Woodrow; brother Charles Foy Conn; brother Thomas Robert Conn, Sr. and spouse Irene; brother Ramon Novarro Conn and spouse Marie; brother Jerry Conn, sister Mary Lou Lafler and spouse Bill Ray.
Lucy is survived by her sisters Irene Fay Alexander and spouse Marvin Wayne; and Shirley Ann Creppon and spouse James Douglas. She is also survived by her children; Gilbert W. Mokry, Jr. and spouse Patricia; Lou Ann Mokry; Gail Simonson and spouse James; Connie Pfau and spouse Jon. She also leaves behind her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brandi Barnwell and spouse Lee; Michelle Beckermann and spouse Chris and their sons Brandt and Christian; Melissa Mokry and fiancé Brandon Leslie; Geoffrey Susan and spouse, Hanah Mae and their daughter Haillaine. Melissa Revier and spouse Scott and their children Brettlyn and Bryden; Chelsea Bice and spouse Dillon and their sons Jordan and Austin, Macon Simonson and spouse Lauren and their daughters Cami, Aila and Talia (Bonnie); Cory Simonson and spouse Carlos. Lucy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Lucy loved to play Bingo and Phase 10 and dominoes. She also loved to go to casinos with family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, August 26th, 2024, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, TX from 5p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral Services are set for Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, TX.
Pallbearers will be Geoffrey Susan, Cory Simonson, Macon Simonson, Clint Mokry, Scott Creppon and Wesley Creppon.
There will be a gathering of friends and family at the Knights of Columbus Hall following the funeral for sharing memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Mary Catholic School .
