Amelia Nira Campos

Amelia Nira Campos (known to everyone as Wella) 95, of Taylor, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2018.

Born July 12, 1922 in Hondo, TX, she was the daughter of the late Agapito and Teresa Nira.

She married her loving husband, the late Ramon Campos, on March 7, 1943.

She was a devout member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she was a member of the Choir and Guadalupanas.

She loved songs of faith. She loved “Las Mananitas” and called her family members early in the morning to serenade them on their birthdays! We will never forget her funny spirit and the love she had for her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Roberto N. Campos and her great grandson, Nicholas Costilla.

She is survived by her loving son, Roy (Lidia) Campos, her loving daughters, Olga (Ernest) Martinez and Oralia (Gilbert) Costilla; sister, Erminia Nira Pena and brother, Alberto (Emelia) Nira all of Hondo, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Irene Watson, Debbie (Peter) Gonzales, Joe Michael Esquivel, Jerry (Anna) Ornelas, Angelica Kleinfieldt, Ezidelia (David) Bayer, Crystal Martinez, Lori Moreno, Gilbert (Yolanda) Costilla, Jr., Monica (Chris) Kneip, Raphael (Jennifer) Campos and Joseph (Edith) Campos; thirty-eight great grandchildren and forty-six great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Michael Esquivel, Jerry Ornelas, Raphael Campos, Joseph Campos, Carlos Watson and Gilbert Costilla, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are Emelio Perez, Benito Lopez and Bethany Lopez.

We would like to give thanks to her caretakers, especially Cecelia Nira, Anna Ornelas and Maybell Terry.

We would also like to thank hospice for their support and loving care and also to Seton Williamson staff and nurses for their support and loving care in her last days.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home Chapel.  Celebration of life mass will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Burial will be at Hondo Cemetery in Hondo, Texas at 11:00 P.M. Satruday, May 12, 2018.
