Allen James Doubrava, 80, of Taylor, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
Allen was born on March 21, 1944, in Houston, Texas, to Bob and Annie Doubrava. As a young boy, he grew up next door to his cousin, Johnnie Bollom. Later, Allen moved with his parents to Taylor, Texas, where he graduated from St. Mary’s High School. After graduation, Allen was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as a Vietnam War veteran. Upon his discharge from the Army, he joined the National Guard, serving for several years. Allen then worked as a printer for The University of Texas, where he eventually retired.
Allen married Marguerite Flanagan, and they shared many years together until her death in 2009. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, and cherished spending time with his family and friends, reminiscing about years of memories. Allen also had a soft spot for his pets and loved his dogs dearly.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, several relatives, and friends. He is survived by his stepchildren, Melissa, Richard, Rachel, and Donna, as well as many other family members and close friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a rosary from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, at Providence Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, at Providence Funeral Home, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
