Aline (Greinert) Kautz passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2020. Born in February 1926, she was a beautiful, frail but strong-willed 94 years old at the time of her passing. She was born on a farm in Bastrop County (as she pointed out, nobody was born in hospitals in those days). She grew up on the farm picking cotton and doing all usual farm chores but, as a teenager, also worked at the USO Canteen in Elgin during the war years and later at a restaurant and then City Hall in Taylor, Texas.
On June 22, 1947 Aline Married Gilbert Kautz, leader of the Kautz Orchestra, now one of the longest performing dance bands in Texas. Aline was a loving wife and mother and after years of taking her children to piano lessons so they could become musicians, she took up the piano herself. But her fingers succumbed to arthritis and she remained content to fully support her family on their musical pursuits and careers.
Aline loved the Lord, her family, her church and all of the friends and caretakers. Nothing made her happier than to hear from friends and family. She loved life and was always deeply interested in the people and events surrounding her. She had an amazing ability to retain facts, name and date concerning just about everybody she met. She truly was the family historian.
Aline is survived by her angel and caretaker: David’s wife Patti; her children: David and Glynda; her grandchildren; Amber, Aubrey and Britton; and her great granddaughter: Lily.
Her favorite Psalm is Psalm 23, The Lord is My Shepherd, and her Bible Verse is Phil. 4, v13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.
She is loved deeply and will be always missed but forever present in our hearts.
God Bless you Mom.
