ALFRED MEISKE
FEB 6, 1918 - MARCH 26, 2024
Alfred Meiske passed away on March 26, 2024 at the age of 106.
He was born on February 6, 1918 to William and Martha (Ludecke) Meiske near Taylor, Texas. He was the seventh of 11 children. Alfred was baptized on April 12, 1918 at New Bern. He was confirmed on April 8, 1933 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, married Doris Schroeder on December 4, 1941 at Prince of Peace and was a member there at his death.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents William and Martha, wife Doris; brothers Otto, Henry, Herbert and Harvey, sisters Ida, Alma, Lorene, Laura, Bernice and Alice and their spouses; and one great grandson Canyon Lee Morris.
Alfred is survived by his daughter, Bonnie George and husband Kenneth, grandson Brandon George and wife Julianne, granddaughter Jalyn Morris and husband Eric, great grandchildren Kyper George, Braxton George, Annaliese George and Hudson Morris.
Being a farmer by trade, when times were tough he worked with his brother Harvey in carpentry. His love of the outdoors was evident by his hobbies of hunting and fishing. He maintained a garden and small pecan orchid until he turned 100 and often shared the fruits of his labor with family and friends. Some of the best times were playing dominoes, both Straight and Texas 42, In his earlier years he loved playing with his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Later he loved playing dominoes with his grandchildren. There was often an argument as to who got to be his partner because they knew that was going to be the winning team.
The family would like to thank Dr, Jose Condado Contreras, Dr. Nathan Cohen, the SPJST Assisted Living and the SPJST Nursing Home for taking such good care of Alfred these past few years. He made many new friends at the Assisted Living and loved sitting on the porch visiting with everyone.
