Adolph William (A.W.) Pick, 95, of Taylor, passed away May 16, 2022.
A.W. was born September 14, 1926 in New Colony, TX to Adolph Julius and Ida Rellie (Fuchs) Pick. He was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts, TX.
As a young man, he became smitten with the redhead at the Edgeworth cotton gin – Jacquelyn Joyce Boehm. They married on June 11, 1950 at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts, a union that lasted nearly 72 years.
A.W. and Jacquelyn settled in their home at Hoxie where together they ran a family farm. He was awarded Master Farmer by the Taylor Chamber of Commerce in 1966. In addition to his work, A.W. was involved in the 4-H Club, St. John Lutheran Church Council and the Thrall School Board, serving on that board during two significant local and national events – the Thrall High School fire and desegregation.
Along with his work and civic engagements, he traveled much of the country with his beloved wife, Jacquelyn. For decades, his family has gathered at their farm to celebrate holidays, birthdays, graduations and anniversaries. Both before and after his retirement at the age of 72, you could often find him in the stands at sporting events featuring the Thrall Tigers, Taylor Ducks or Celina Bobcats rooting on his grandchildren.
A.W. was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Alfred Pick and Olin Pick; and his sisters Elna Persky and Nalene Nauman and their spouses.
A.W. is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn; sons Randall Pick, Bobby Pick (Susan), and Donald Pick (Christy); daughter, Sharon Moreno (Celestino); grandchildren Melanie Rathke (Mike), Amber Pick, Maegan Bennight (Daniel), Joshua Pick (Susan), Jared Pick, Miranda Langley, Lauren Cowin (Sam), Conner Moreno (Shaye), Cullen Pick (Catherine), and Cameron Moreno; and great-grandchildren Raylee Garrett, Taylor Adams, Eva Langley, Tori Adams, Makenzie Robinson, Jaren Pick, Kurt Langley, Jaxon Adams, Mason Pick, Amy Langley, Addison Bennight, Marley Cowin, Carter Bennight, Tanner Cowin, Collyns Pick, Wednesday Moreno, Miles Pick and two more expected this fall.
