David Samuel Roberts
October 4, 1927 – December 12, 2010

David was born in Clemscot, Oklahoma to Bernard and Florina Roberts.

Leaving home at a young age, David ventured out to California working in the “Traveling Big Top Circus.”

In 1945 David Served his country as a military police officer in the United States Air Force in Japan, receiving World War II Victory Honors. After being discharged from the service to Corpus Christi, he met and married Elizabeth Urbanek Roberts in 1951. Together they started their own business, “Roberts Vending and Catering.”

After the birth of their two children, Margaret and Mark, David took a position as a traveling sale manager for WICO Distributors in Chicago, Illinois. In 1970 David and Elizabeth started another business, “Nor-Cal Billiards” and settled in Woodland California.

Retiring in 1990, David and Elizabeth moved back to Taylor to be near his wife’s family. David loved his wife, Elizabeth and his family with all his heart. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and wanted the best for everyone. David was very intelligent, a hard worker and accomplished all his goals and dreams as a very successful businessman.

David was proud of his Irish, American Indian Heritage and his Oklahoma roots.
He will always be remembered for his big hugs, funny sense of humor, his love of billiards, good movies, traveling, his famous sandwiches, cornbread, of course his beloved motorhome, and always willing to lend a hand to everyone.

David took care of his wife, Elizabeth for the last years of her illness until her passing on November 25, 2010.

David had a deep faith in God and loved the Lord. He will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Matta and husband, Robert; son, Mark Roberts; grandchildren, Vanessa Cruz and husband, Alex, Jared Matta, Chaston Matta, and Isaac Roberts; great-grandchildren, Natalie Cruz and Kimberly Cruz.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm and Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 2 PM Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Providence Funeral Home with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating.
