Mildred (Vanek) Stefek
Mildred Lorene Stefek, 76, of Taylor, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at the Trinity Care Center in Round Rock.
Mildred was born on July 4, 1934 to Anna (Shimek) and Anton Ignac Vanek, Sr. in the Circleville community. She also attended the Moravian School in the Circleville area.
Mildred married Victor Stefek on May 4, 1953 in Granger, Texas and moved to Woodsboro and then to Refugio before moving back to Granger. In 1973, they built a new home and moved to Taylor. Mildred and Victor traveled for several years after his retirement. They enjoyed their trips to Tennessee, Colorado, Arkansas, and especially enjoyed Branson, Missouri and visited there several times as a favorite spot. After Victor’s death on Sept. 23, 1997, Mildred continued living in Taylor and enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved baking goodies for her children and grandchildren. Anytime her family came for a visit she would always have chocolate chip or oatmeal cookies ready for them to enjoy. On special occasions she would make our favorite German Chocolate Cake or caramel pecan candy, which never lasted very long once we found out it was there.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Anton Vanek, Jr. and Julius J. Vanek; sister Ann (Vanek) Price; half brothers Theodore and Alfred Vanek; half sisters Julie (Vanek) Valchar and Louise (Vanek) Belz.
Mildred is survived by her loving children and their families- son, James V. Stefek and wife Monica of Taylor and their sons Jeff and Jordan; son, Jerry A. Stefek and wife Cindy of Taylor and their family Richelle, Mat and Amber Kevil, Renee, Corey and Courtney Hall and Jeremy Stefek; son, Ernest J.
