Hattie Gaida

Hattie Gaida, 93 of Taylor, died Monday, November 22, 2010 in Taylor.

Visitation will be held on Friday beginning at 6 PM with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor. Celebration of Life Mass will be 10 AM Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Granger.

Hattie was born October 12, 1917 to the late Albert and Annie (Rabel) Haluzan, Sr. in Pilot Point, Texas. She married Emil Mohel who also preceded her in death in 1956. Hattie married Edward Gaida in 1958. She was a member of K.J.Z.T., S.P.J.S.T., Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and St. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church. Hattie enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing card games, watching football where her favorite teams were the Granger Lions, Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. She also enjoyed fishing, cold beer and laughing with friends and spending time with her family. Hattie was a homemaker.

Hattie is also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gaida, a son Emil Mohel, brothers; Ike Haluzan, Albert Haluzan, Jr. and August Haluzan, and a sister, Albina Kozlovsky.

She is survived by her sons: Robert Mohel and wife Letha of Bulverde, TX, Daniel (Dan) Mohel and wife Carolyn of Taylor, grandchildren: Sandra Mohel Speed and husband Billy, Cindy Mohel Baker and husband Rainer of Castorville, TX, Dana Mohel Moehnke and husband Eric of Taylor, great-grandchildren: Rainer Lee Baker, Jr., Amanda Speed, Anoa Hines and Cayden Moehnke.
