Jim Stefek, went to live with the Lord on October 24, 2010.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, October 28, 2010 with the Rosary at 7PM at Providence Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Mass will be 10 AM Friday, October 29, 2010 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

Jim was born on November 28, 1944 in Granger, Texas to Joseph J. and Mary Knapek Stefek, both immigrants from Czechoslovakia. He was one of seven brothers and two sisters and learned farming and carpentry early in his youth. He married Stella Harman on May 24, 2008.

Over the years Jim farmed, owned a residential custom home building company, and owned Jim’s Place in Granger. At the time of his passing, Jim was employed at Rostrata Builders, and was a Residential Construction Superintendent who specialized in building beautiful and extravagant custom homes.

Jim’s passion was the building industry. He will be remembered for his love of life. Everyone has always said “Jim is a happy go lucky guy that always has a smile on his face”. He was a man of integrity and love for all. With a smile and a warm greeting, his handshake was an invitation of acceptance, friendship and love. He was a man of many talents and hobbies. He enjoyed working in his beautiful yard, creating amazing woodcrafts, baking, gardening, hunting, fishing and carpentry. Jim enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as watching lightning storms in his rocking chair on the front porch, playing with his grandchildren, viewing sunsets, listening to his step daughter Regina sing, and sitting on his back patio enjoying the company of his lovely wife Stella. He was a wonderful husband, and an irreplaceable father and grandpa.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joe. J and Mary Knapek Stefek, his daughter Nancy Kay and her husband Jerry R. Vrabel Jr. His three brothers Joe E., Emil and Victor Stefek.

He is survived by his wife Stella Harman Stefek of Granger. His son Alan J. Stefek and wife Sabra of Hutto. Stepdaughter Regina Ball of Taylor. Great friends and ex-wife Zonda and Ronnie Zett of Circleville. His five precious grandchildren Cassiddy Marie Stefek of San Marcos, Chelsea Nicole Stefek and Dustin James Stefek of Taylor, Kiley Morgan Stefek and Kaden McCoy Stefek of Hutto. Brothers Bill Stefek and wife Margie of Killeen, John Stefek and wife Cecelia of Granger, Raymond Stefek and wife Helen of Taylor, George Stefek and wife Dorothy of Bartlett. Two sisters Mary Strmiska of Taylor and Lillian Schwertner of Jarrell. Sisters in law Martha Stefek of Georgetown, Mildred Stefek of Taylor and Martha Stefek of Corpus Christi. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All of Stella’s relatives adored and loved Jim and will miss him dearly.
