Vernon G. Hafernik Sr. Age 92, of Taylor died Oct. 22, 2010 in Bastrop, Texas
Visitation will be Wed. Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 pm. Rosary will start at 7 pm. At Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas.
Celebration of life mass will be held on Thurs., 2pm Oct. 28 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Vernon was born Sept. 16, 1918 in Taylor, Texas, son of John and Mamie Hafernik. He was married to Mary Rose Fisher on Oct. 21, 1942.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Survived by son Vernon G. Hafernik Jr. & wife Janet of Houston. Son J. Fred Hafernik & wife Morothy of Austin. Daughter Rose Marie Apel & husband Mike of Bastrop. Grandchildren, Billy Joe Hafernik & wife Janna, Cheryl Lynn Troy and husband Bob, James E. Thompson, Steven Hafernik, Laura Hafernik, Mary Theresa Hafernik. Great-grandchildren Dustin Lee Dismuke, & Emily Lynne Hafernik.
Vernon was a longtime insurance agent in Taylor, Fisher & Hafernik Insurance, and operated the Retail Merchant’s Association for years.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Kollman, Allen Ray David, Billy Joe Hafernik, James E. Thompson, Steven Hafernik and Dustin Lee Dismuke.
Vernon was a charter member of the Taylor Rodeo Association, member of Knights of Columbus, Sons of Herman and SPJST.
The family of Vernon would like to thank the Argent Court staff of Bastrop and Resolutions Hospice of Bastrop in his last days of life.
