Richard F Bartosh

December 13, 1924 — September 14, 2010

Richard "Rick" F. Bartosh of Taylor , TX passed away on September 14, 2010.

Born on December 13, 1924, in Granger, Texas, he was the eldest son of Anastasia Stasny and Charles B. Bartosh. A graduate of Granger High School in 1943, Rick joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Campaign during WWII. After the war, he married his high-school sweetheart, Cornelia "Connie" Zett in 1946. Rick graduated with a degree in business from Texas A&M University in 1951 and began a 40-year career in the insurance business with the State Board of Insurance, Loyalty Group, Wells and Co., Cravens Dargen, Transamerica, Gulf Insurance and with John Pfluger. In the beginning of his profession, he lived in Waco and Dallas before settling down in Austin in 1955. Rick continued working in Austin when he and Connie moved out to the Norman’s Crossing Community in 1977 where he liked being a weekend "farmer".

Rick enjoyed playing dominoes and was a champ in Pflugerville, Cele and Hutto when domino tournaments were still held there. Until a few years ago, he enjoyed playing and watching many games in Taylor until his poor eyesight curtailed his playing. He learned dominoes from his mother and aunts who needed a fourth player so, he was recruited at the age of nine, which started his life-long hobby.

Rick was a former member of the Elks Club and the Lions Club of Austin and KJT.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents and wife.

He is survived by his daughter, Johanna M. Bartosh and her husband Richard J. Dalche; his brother Gilbert and wife Bettye and brother Charles (Pete) and wife Susan, sisters-in-law, Beatrice Zimmerhanzel and Valerie Vrabel, brother-in-law Ralph Zett and wife Alice, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. on September 16th at Providence Funeral Home. Services will be on September 17th at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at Lighthouse at Altenheim Hospice in Round Rock, Texas.

Because of Connie’s past dedication to the nursing profession and the family’s great respect for those individuals who have chosen that profession, the family suggest memorials be sent in Rick’s name to: The Laura M. Burns Scholarship Fund @ The Seton Fund, 1201 West 38th Street, Austin, Texas 78705.
