Oscar Fred Findeisen

May 15, 1931 — September 7, 2010

Oscar Fred FIndeisen, Sr. of Pflugerville passed on to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010. He was preceded in death by his son Oscar Fred Findeisen, Jr., sister Mary Lou Bachmayer, mother Leona Findeisen and father, Alfred J. Findeisen. He is survived by his long-time partner Edda Findeisen, daughter Rosamunda Findeisen, grandchildren Justin Findeisen, Jacquelyn Findeisen and Sean Findeisen, brothers Alfred Findeisen and Leon Findeisen, and sister Leona Rieger

He was a man of humor and insurmountable spirit, with steadfast devotion to his family and his country.

Oscar was born in Taylor, TX on May 15th, 1931. He enlisted in the Army in 1951 and served in Korea. He met the mother of his children, Edda, in Germany in 1954 and went on to serve three tours of duty in the Vietnam War before retiring from the military after 22 years of service. He moved to Austin with his family in 1971 and after retiring from the military was hired by the U.S. Postal Service and served the community for 28 years.

Despite many trials and tribulations, including the tragic death of his son Oscar Jr., he never lost his ability to inspire laughter and strength in everyone who was blessed by his presence. He was a diligent worker who met every responsibility with pride and enthusiasm, regardless of the triviality or tedium of the task. He loved the great outdoors and sports of every kind, but none as much as he loved being with his family. His faith was as unshakable as his resolve, and he will be deeply missed.

Services will be Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Church of Coupland in Coupland. Burial will take place at St. Peter's Cemetary in Coupland.
