James Virgil Rountree , a resident of Taylor, TX. , was born in Moran, TX. on January 14, 1931 to JV and Willie Rountree and passed away peacefully on August 19, 2010 at Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock. There are no services planned at this time.
Virgil graduated from Seagraves High School in 1949. He joined the Navy in 1950, served in the Pacific as Third Class Petty Officer during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1953. In 1955, he moved to Fort Stockton, TX, worked in the Oil and Gas Industry and raised two children. After moving to Odessa, he retired in 1996 and moved to his favorite place, Lake City, Co. with his wife Lynnell Shadix Rountree who he married in 1975. He loved the mountains and had an amazing relationship with both pets and the wildlife.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Ann Williams and son James Val Rountree.
He is survived by his wife, Lynnell Rountree; daughter and son-in-law Raven and Frank Salvato of Lakeway; three grandchildren - Lacy Rountree Duran, Jenna Rountree and Meagan Rountree; three great grandchildren - Micah Val, Braxton and Kyan Duran; and his extended family - Noble and Sue Shadix, John Ray, Susie Qualls and their children.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Humane Society or Scott & White Hospice.
