Richard Alan Allgower

August 7, 1981 — August 15, 2010

Richard Alan Allgower was born on August 7, 1981 in Richmond, Texas. Richard was welcomed into his heavenly reward by his Savior Jesus Christ on August 15, 2010 at the age of 29. He is survived by his wife, Lexie Pickett Allgower, his parents Alan and Ester Allgower, and his best friend and sister, Katherine Allgower. He also leaves behind his grandmother, Ann Allgower, his mother-in-law, Nancy Pickett, his brother and sister-in-law, David and Jessica Pickett and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Richard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leonides and Angelita Ortiz, his paternal grandfather, Al Allgower, two aunts, two uncles and two nephews.

Richard attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Rosenberg and then graduated from B.F. Terry High School in 1999. After attending Texas State University, Richard received his calling to be a U.S. Marine. As a reservist, he was Platoon Honor man, meritoriously promoted and deployed to Africa on 2 occasions. After 2 years into his enlistment, he augmented to Active Duty in order to better serve our country. His career continued with another meritorious promotion and deployment to Iraq. At the time of his passing, he was an active duty Marine.

In June of 2009, Richard was diagnosed with a brainstem tumor. The diagnosis led him to a journey that inspired all he came in contact with in the past year, especially via his Caring Bridge website. Above all, Richard loved and served his God, loved his family dearly, and loved his country. In addition to his love of God, family and country, Richard loved ice cream cake, Star Wars, college football, a good laugh and his sidekick, Bailey. Richard had many interests (guns, fishing, writing), but he was always looking for a hobby.

Those who knew “Rich” knew that the “Force” was with him and that he truly believed in his motto: “God has a plan” and Rich followed that plan.
