Doris Zachary

On Tuesday, July 6, 2010, Doris Zachary departed this life. Doris was born July 22, 1937,in Travis County to Ira and Beatrice Routt Sr. She was the sixth of eight children.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, a brother, and a son-in-law.
She attended public schools in Manor, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age at Gilden Creek First Baptist Church, Manor, Texas. She was a former member of St. Loveall Baptist Church and Greater Swenson Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor T.E. King. Later Doris moved her membership to God’s Way Christian Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B.R. Reese, where she served faithfully until death.
Doris and Arthur Zachary were united in Holy Matrimony on June 8, 1955. There were eight children born to the union.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Arthur Zachary Jr. and wife Irma, Louis Zachary and wife Brenda, Janice Zachary, Kirk Zachary and wife Benita, Carl Zachary and wife Sandra, Dennis Zachary, Debbie Zachary, and Gary Zachary. Twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Brothers: Rev. W.B. Routt, Robert, Ira Jr.; Sisters: Maude Taylor, Johnny Easley, and Mary Sue Fields. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 9, 2010, from 3PM-7PM at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. A Going Home Celebration will be held Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Zion Chapel Baptist Church in Taylor, Texas. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
