Duane Robinson

April 13, 1931 — May 4, 2010

Duane Robinson, 79, was received into the arms of God, Tuesday, May 4th at Scott and White Hospital in Temple after a brief illness.   A viewing will be held at Providence Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, May 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Viet, will be on Monday, May 10th, 10:00 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home Chapel.  Military Funeral Honors will be conducted at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 10th.

Duane was born April 13, 1931 in Oshkosh Nebraska to Frank and Helen Robinson.  He joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Midland College in 1953.  Duane spent the next 18 years traveling around the world, furthering his love of flying, participating in various sports and supporting his county.  He was awarded the Air Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  After retiring as a Commander from the Navy in 1974, Duane continued developing his interests as he worked in various positions including banking and as a real estate proprietor.

He loved to be with his family and friends sharing many stories of his adventures, cheering for his favorite sports teams and reading.  Duane was active in the folk choir at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Duane is survived by his wife, Rosemarie, seven children; son Rick and his wife Angie, daughter Debbie and husband Steve Carter, daughter Sharon Embry, son Mike, son Ron and wife Karen, daughter Tina and husband Aaron Burgess and his son Duane.  He was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren.  He is further survived by his brother Gene and wife Marlene, Jim and wife Mary, Paul and wife Fern, sister Carol and husband Norm Allen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby.

His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Military Family Association.
