Charlie Frank Pajestka, 95, died peacefully at home on May 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born on December 28, 1921 to Charles Pajestka and Emilie Nemec Pajestka in Holland. He was a member of St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II and served in four invasions as a U.S. Army Soldier. He also served as a dental and medical technician while stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was awarded the Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon, the Philippine liberation ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Leanne Rose Pajestka, his brother Joe Pajestka, his sisters Cecilia Pavlat, Rosie Pavlat, and Albina Pajestka.
He married the love of his life Blanche Bowers Pajestka in Blessing, Texas on February 23, 1957. They had ten children. He is survived by his wife Blanche of 60 years. He is survived by nine children and their families including Dr. Charles Ray Pajestka and wife Mary Ann of Sonora; Kenneth Pajestka and wife Mary of Rogers; Russell Pajestka and wife Daffney of Holland; Sharon and husband Dr. Frank Parma of Victoria; Theresa Pajestka Holcomb and husband John of Buda; John Pajestka and wife Melissa of Holland; Larry Pajestka and wife Cynthia of Holland; Richard Pajestka and wife Lora of Bartlett; and Lisa Pajestka Chavez and husband Jerry of Goliad. He has 32 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Charlie is also survived by his brother Frank Pajestka and wife Helen and sister Betty Jarolik of Holland and numerous nieces and nephews.
While only being able to complete a 6th grade education due to having to work on the family farm, he continually stressed the importance of education not only to his children but also to his grandchildren. He was very generous when it came to family and did all he could to help his children.
He worked 15 years at American Desk before his employment at Scott and White Hospital where he retired in May 1984. He was also a farmer and rancher throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 28th from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 5:00 P.M.
Services will be held Monday, May 29th, 2017 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. with burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
