Joyce Ann Scruggs

Joyce Ann Scruggs passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the age of 80 with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 22, 1937 to Frank and Della Trlica and was a life long resident of the Shiloh community. She graduated from Thrall High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Joyce Ray Scruggs.

“Memaw” as everyone knew her, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, bake, and care for her big family. As a devout Christian, she never wavered in her faith, even through life’s toughest battles.

Joyce Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Carol Davidson, and son Gary Scruggs. She is survived by her sons Michael and Greg and wife Deniece, daughters Sharon Parker and husband Gaylon, Cindy Scruggs, and Shelia Evenson, daughter-in-law Gail Scruggs, brother Frankie Trlica, sisters June Trlica and Ruth Dunn, 18 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Providence Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at First Shiloh Baptist Church (100 County Road 481, Thrall) at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Lawrence Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Heath Scruggs, Lance Walton, Nelson Parker, Chad Walton, Jarrott Martin, Kory Scruggs, Brandon Evenson, Ryan Evenson, Dillon Pekar, Kollen Scruggs, and Jake Scruggs.

The family would like to thank Pastor Ray Dennis and the Seton Medical staff for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
