The evening of May 5, 2017, Toochum James H. Blackwell was called home. James was the second child of A.B. Blackwell and Annie Tanksley. In 1947, the family relocated to Taylor, Texas where she met and married Houston Tanksley and to this union six children were born.
Toochum was preceded in death by his wives Marie Huff Blackwell and Faye Maxwell Blackwell, his parents, two sisters Sarah Blackwell and Ora Vincent, three brothers A.B. Blackwell, Troy Tanksley and Monroe Blackwell, and one nephew Wendell Samuel, III.
He leaves to cherish his memory his fiancé Ladetria Wesley of Houston, two sisters Ruby Tealer of Taylor and Emma Logan (Loe) of Round Rock, and one brother Alfred Tanksley (Beverly). He also leaves nephews and nieces Eddie Tealer of Dallas, Carl Tealer (Jessica) of Thorndale, Artisha Miller (Jay) and Michele Freeland (Marcus) of Round Rock, Yvette Carver (Jeremie) and Barry Tealer (Rosa) of Taylor, Leo Vincent (Amy) of Georgetown and Gregory Mixon Tealer of Copperas Cove and numerous aunts, uncles, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 15, 2017 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel and Celebration of Live Services will begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Crayton, Frank Fitzgerald, Marcus Love, Marcus Love, Jr., Barry Tealer and Carl Tealer.
We would like to thank the staff at the Trinity Care Center, the Kindred at Home Hospice and Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center. We would also like to thank you for all of your phone calls, prayers and visits on James’ behalf. The family would like to give a special thanks to Reverend Harold Taylor, Pastor Rock Quarry M.B.
