Gertrude "Trudie" Kincl

February 26, 1922 — April 21, 2017

Gertrude E. Kincl, Trudie, was born to Ben and Emilie Sladecek on February 26, 1922 in Jarrell, TX. She went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2017 while living at home in Taylor. She was baptized and confirmed at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill and greatly loved the Holy Mother and the Church. She graduated from Jarrell High School with honors in 1938.

She married Louis J. Kincl of Taylor while he was in the Army Air Corps serving in WWII. When discharged, they settled in Taylor and remained there for the rest of their lives. Together they were blessed with two sons.

She lived a full and active life. For many years she was a homemaker, raising her family and being a wonderful cook and baker. Everyone loved her kolaches, pies and cakes. She also spent a lot of time gardening and caring for her flowers and plants. She would rather spend her afternoons working in the garden and her many flower beds than anything else. She was a member of the garden clubs in Taylor and Georgetown and got into flower arrangements and became a certified flower show judge. She did a lot of volunteer work such as at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home and spent many, many Saturdays working at the St. Vincent de Paul store in Taylor.

She loved dancing polkas and waltzes and singing Czech songs. She was a charter member of the Taylor Czech Chorus having been a member since 1967. Also a member of various church groups like the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society.

As a second career, she worked at the K.J.Z.T. home office in Austin and became a licensed agent with the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas – K.J.Z.T selling financial and insurance products for several years. Also she worked at the IRS in Austin as a Data Transcriber.

One highlight of her life was attending the ordination of the son of one of her husband’s 1st cousins, Father Bob Kincl, at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome and also visiting the country of her heritage, Czechoslovakia.

Her greatest legacy is her Catholic faith and her never ending display of love for her family, mankind, and nature.

Trudie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers Rudy, Louis, Jerry and Dan. She is survived by her sons Jimmy of Brookland, Texas and Rodney of Taylor and one sister Bernice Johns of Belton. She will be missed by 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild and many nephews and nieces.

She wants to send out heartfelt thanks and appreciation to her son Rodney who was a kind and constant caretaker for many years.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Corn Hill following the service.
