Eusebia De La Rosa Vargas was born to Luis and Perfecta De La Rosa on August 14, 1914 in Milam County. She attended Thrall public schools. In 1931, she and Ysidro Vargas were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, Texas, and enjoyed 66 years together. They were blessed with five children.
For many years she was a housekeeper for the Rudy Mikeska family. She then worked for the University of Texas as a custodian for many years and retired in March 1981.
She was called to her eternal resting place on March 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, 3 sisters, daughter Santos Castro (Lionzo) and son Pete Vargas. She is survived by her daughters Stella Ruiz (Raymond) and Mary Chapa (Pete Jr.), her son Richard Vargas and daughter in law Lupe Vargas. She will be missed by 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
She lived a full and active life. She loved to cook for her family and friends – there was always a fresh tortilla waiting for you in her kitchen. She loved bingo, shopping, dancing and her novelas. She took great joy in her world travels and watching her grandkids and great grandkids play sports – especially baseball and softball.
Her greatest legacy is her Catholic faith and her never ending display of love for her family and mankind.
