Louise Abigail Johnson

June 23, 1927 — February 13, 2017

Louise Abigail (Abby) Johnson

Abby entered her heavenly home peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017. She was born in Rosenberg, TX on June 23, 1927 to Rev and Mrs Heinz and Louise Ziehe and was baptized at their home on July 4 by her grandfather, Pastor Carl Ziehe. Her early years were spent in Rosenberg, Lubbock/Posey and San Antonio before moving to Robstown, where she graduated from high school as valedictorian in 1944.
Abby attended the two year college, Texas Lutheran College, graduating in 1946.

She then volunteered to serve with the National Lutheran Council as a parish worker in American Missions in Vallejo, California. Following one year of service in the mission field, she moved home to Taylor, TX, where her parents now lived, and enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin.

Abby met Wallace soon after moving back and they married in August of 1948. She and Wally made a home in Austin and she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in August of 1949. Abby taught public school in Taylor for 24 years, including first grade, third grade and elementary Special Education. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gramma.

During her lifetime, Abby was a devoted and active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. She taught Sunday School, served on many church committees, and led several women’s circles. Abby served her Lord humbly, usually from behind the scenes, and touched many lives in that way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wallace and her youngest daughter, Julie Muery.

She is survived by her son, Michael, his wife Marilyn of Plano; daughter Becky Roach of Whitney; son-in-law Russell Muery of Taylor; granddaughter Kasey Johnson of Plano; granddaughter Robin Webb, and husband Jeremy of Waco, and their four children; granddaughter Katie Roach of Taylor; granddaughter Chrissy Jones, and husband Ryan of Beaumont; grandson Geoffrey Roach of La Grange; grandson Andrew Roach of Estes Park, Co.

We will always cherish the memories of Abby’s warm hospitality, her generous heart and her humble, Christ-like servant spirit.
