Wilford “Will” Dean Bullock, age 82 was born in Wellington, Texas and died January 24, 2017 in Taylor, Texas.
Will was born on August 13, 1934 to Charles and Gladys Bullock. He graduated from Abilene High School and joined the US Air Force as a Radio Operator. While serving our country he met the love of his life, Darlene Crenshaw from Pitts, Georgia. They married in Bakersfield, California on December 21, 1955 and were married over 51 years until Darlene’s death in 2007.
Will and Darlene lived in several cities in Texas before settling down in Pflugerville. He started a successful electrical business in the Austin area until 1983 when he retired from Bullock Electric and moved to Port Mansfield, Texas where he fulfilled his dream of fishing for a living as Captain Will Bullock of Laguna Charters. In June 2016 after almost 25 years of being a part of the Mansfield Club he retired again. He loved to jam with some locals on his vintage 1952 Les Paul guitar, and had a star-studded history of playing backup guitar on a Saturday night television show in Abilene, Texas in the late 50’s. Known to his grandchildren as “GG”, he offered his time and talents to his 4 grandchildren on a regular basis while performing as the President and Chairman of the Port Mansfield Chamber of Commerce.
Will is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brother Norman Cruson.
He is survived by his sister Dr. Dolores Webb; son John Melvin “Mel” and his wife Sheila; grandchildren Amanda Elson and her husband Shelby, Colbey Bullock and his wife Jennifer, Sydnee Best and her husband Levi and Sean Bullock; great grandchildren Landyn Bullock, Caleb Elson and Alyssa Elson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Celebration of life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor, Texas on Saturday January 28, 2017. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm.
Will’s family would like to thank the staff of St. David’s Round Rock Hospital and SPJST Skilled Nursing and Rehab facility in Taylor for their loving care during his final days. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to his niece Rhonda Evans for her love and devotion to Will.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Relay for Life in search of a cure for cancer.
