Nadine Marie Rau, 73, of Taylor, TX went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 3, 2017. She developed advanced dementia but died peacefully at home.
Nadine is survived by her husband of 47 years, Roland Rau, children Richelle Oviedo and husband James, Rachel Crabb and husband Robby, Joyellen Lopez and husband, Joshua, all of Taylor, and Jacob Rau and wife Melissa of Livingston, TX, sister Joyce Harwell of Dayton, TX, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother Bud Krone of Mora, MN, sister Betty Lee Annesley of Oklahoma City, OK and parents Arthur and Edith Krone.
Nadine was born August 21, 1943 in Ashland, WI. She married Roland in June 1968. Their love story started with a blind date in Clearwater, FL where they went to see the 3-hour movie of Dr. Zhivago and they have been hanging out ever since. She worked as a LVN at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater and Roland was stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa. After marrying in LaPointe, Madeline, WI, they settled in Taylor, TX where Roland began farming and ranching on nights and weekends and his day job as an electronics technician (which paid the bills). Nadine chose to stay home and raise their four children.
Nadine will be best remembered by her worship and her prayer life. She loved God with all her heart, all her mind, and all her soul. She spent countless hours of the day and night worshipping the Lord and praying for many, many families, friends and strangers. You were on the list because she prayed for everyone (we found her little black book with all the lists). Her mind and body failed her, but her heart and spirit loved God and carried her through. Roland also carried her through with an undying vow to love and care for her every day of their lives. From carrying her over the first threshold of their home to carrying her back across that threshold and out of her home for the last time.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, January 6, 2017 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.
Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Christ Fellowship Church with burial to follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
