SALLY JO JOHNSON MARX, aged 88 years, 5 months and 11 days, born in Austin, Texas, shed her earthly bonds and passed on to her heavenly reward in Taylor, Texas on December 31, 2016.
Sally was born July 20, 1928, to Joe Johnson and Charlotte Susie Starks. She married Clifford Marx on October 6, 1944, and they enjoyed nearly 46 years of married life together until his passing in 1990. Sally loved being a nurse, a profession she practiced for 31 years, primarily in obstetrics and gynecology. She showed that love to all the patients for whom she had cared. Later in life, she continued demonstrating her love of others by cooking for Promise Land Day Care in Hutto, making sure there was sugar in every meal for the many children she served.
Sally loved being around people, and opened her loving heart and home to everyone, never turning anyone down who needed help. She befriended, housed and fed, and cared for many who were in need. All that had the privilege of meeting her knew this, and know what a void exists now that she has passed.
Sally had a lively interest in sports, playing women’s fast pitch softball for the Round Rock “Rockettes” for several years. She had a special knack for throwing the ball (and rocks) quite accurately. She was also a member of the Round Rock Home Demonstration Club many years ago, and was a member of the local Eastern Star chapter.
Sally’s family would like to thank and express special appreciation to the SPJST Assisted Living and Nursing Homes in Taylor for the unfaltering and devoted care they provided over the past three years. We also extend a special thanks to Resolution Hospice for their skilled and loving care during her final days.
Sally is survived by her eldest daughter Sue Boyd of Blufton, TX, daughter Linda and husband Eddie Walther of Franklin, TX, eldest son Dudley and wife Debbie Marx of Thorndale, TX, son Mike and wife Jean Marx of Palacios, TX and son Alan and wife Lisa Robinson of Lockhart, TX.
She had 13 loving grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.
Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clifford, her mother and father, her brothers Charles and Bert Johnson, and grandsons James Edward Walther and Ross Robinson.
