Dorothy Jean (Wleczyk) Hyzak, 72 of Taylor went peacefully to her eternal home on Monday, December 26th surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with Rev Hilario Guajardo officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger.
Dorothy Jean was the youngest of three children born on February 2, 1944 to Stanley and Mary (Kolojaco) Wleczyk in Needville, Texas. She attended Needville schools. Dorothy met Albert J (Sonny) Hyzak, Jr at a dance and thus a courtship began they married on July 23, 1960 at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville, TX. This marriage was blessed with three children Peggy, Glenn and Danny. In February of 1990, after almost 30 years of marriage her husband, Sonny entered his eternal life.
Dorothy cared for their children when they were young and she began working outside the home after the children went to school to help support the family. She had worked at several jobs including 24 years at American Desk Manufacturing Company, 7 years at Taylor ISD and finally retiring from John Community Hospital after 5 years of service. Dorothy was a faithful member of SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger and attended Mass regularly until her health began to decline. She was also a member of the St. Helen's K.J.Z.T. #18 and the Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in Granger. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She loved her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. Also, known as “Dottie” she enjoyed cooking for her family and baking too. For many years she baked for family and friends upon request. She perfected some of the best baked pineapple cream cheese buktas you have ever tasted. Dottie also enjoyed listening to polka music and when her husband was living they enjoyed dancing whenever they got the chance. She also loved to play tarocks and dominoes. Dottie also loved and cared for her many pets throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Edmond (Sonnie) Wleczyk and her sister, Elizabeth Parmar.
Her survivors include her children, Peggy Wooldridge and husband Clarence, sons Glenn and Danny Hyzak; nine grandchildren Cassy Hyzak, Ryan Wooldridge, Brandi Gurganus and husband, Josh, Glenn Michael and wife, Chantel Hyzak, Justin Hyzak, Daniel Hyzak, Sarah Hyzak, Mikayla Hyzak and Jeradan Hyzak; three great grandchildren, Alycia Banda, Morgan and Travis Gurganus; five sister-in-laws; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given in her memory to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
