Cecil Herman Remmert

Cecil Herman Remmert, 87, of Manor passed away November 27, 2016.

He was born in New Bern, Williamson County, Texas on March 29, 1929. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church at New Bern. He was married to Evelyn Wendland on August 29, 1975.

Cecil took over the family farm at the age of 9 when his father died in 1938, and was the father-figure to both of his brothers. He continued farming until times got tough, when he moved to Houston and worked in a variety of jobs in Houston, San Antonio and Austin and retired from Accron Chemical Distributors in 1989.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Taylor and served his Lord on church councils and building committees in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Taylor. He will be most fondly remembered as the “Donkey Handler” at the Pilgrimage to Bethlehem, the community live nativity production at Immanuel each December. He was planning to serve in the nativity this year.

Cecil is predeceased by his parents Charles W. and Lena Remmert and his daughter Cindy Wilburn.

Cecil is survived by his wife Evelyn, sons Mark (Anna) Remmert, Doug (Susie) Remmert, and son-in-law Wade Wilburn. He is also survived by Evelyn’s children Bryan (Donna) Weiss and Linda (Scott) Casper. Cecil is survived by his brothers Ralph (Joyce) Remmert and Charles (Linda) Remmert. Also surviving are Cecil’s 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 2, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of West Taylor. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. A reception will follow at the First Baptist Church of Taylor (corner of 7th & Davis Streets). Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund or the Building Renovation Fund.
