Santos Vargas Castro

Santos V. Castro, age 83, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016.

Santos was born November 1, 1932 to Ysidro and Eusebia Vargas. She attended school in the Thrall I.S.D. She married her teenage sweetheart, Lionzo Castro, May 16, 1957. Santos was owner of Sandy’s Pizza in East Chicago, Indiana and was employed by various companies in Indiana before moving back to Taylor where she was employed by the Taylor I.S.D. as a cafeteria worker for the past 11 years, retiring in June 2016. Santos was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed playing the slot machines, playing poker with family members and was talented with ceramics. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she served as an extraordinary Eucharistic Minister for numerous years.

Santos is preceded in death by her husband Lionzo Castro, father Ysidro Vargas, brother Pete Vargas, father-in-law Apolinar Castro, mother-in-law Natalia Castro and numerous family members.

She is survived by her mother Eusebia Vargas, daughter Darlene Bracamontez (Martin), son Daniel Castro (Carolyn), grandchildren Roan Rodriguez and Dasha Garat, sisters Stella Ruiz (Raymond), Mary Chapa (Pete) and Mary Alice Ruiz (Manuel), sisters-in-law Virginia Arzola and Lupe Carrizales, brother-in-law Tony Castro and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.

Celebration of Life Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special “Thanks” to all the Round Rock Baylor Scott & White Hospital Staff on the 3rd and 4th floor and to the Taylor Baylor Scott & White Hospital Staff on 2nd floor. They also would like to say from each and everyone of our family and friends a big thank you for being there for us. We love you all.
