Marlene Joyce Olbrich Drummond

January 14, 1943 — October 2, 2016

Marlene Olbrich Drummond went to be with the Lord, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 2, 2016. Marlene was born on January 14, 1943 in Thorndale, Texas to Howard and Margie (Newman) Olbrich. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Thorndale and attended Thorndale High School.

On January 24, 1960 she married Emery Drummond. Marlene lived in Thrall and owned and operated the Hiway Café in Thrall with her husband, Emery and mother, Margie. After Emery’s passing in 1996, Marlene went back to work at the Thrall School Cafeteria where she retired in May 2015, known by all as ‘Nanny’ since she worked there throughout the years her grandchildren went to school. She was always there for all of her family, balancing work and looking after her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Thrall.

She was preceded in death by her father Howard Olbrich, and husband Emery Drummond.

Marlene is survived by her precious mother Margie Olbrich of Thorndale; brother Charles ‘Chuck’ Olbrich and wife Peggy and children Jordan, Heather, and Ryan and wife Laura Olbrich; son Brian and wife Dana and children Brian Jr. and wife Amanda Drummond and children Whitney and Reed; Blake and Desiree Kitchens and children Bryce and Braden; Justin and Chelsea Knight and children Kenzie and Emmry; Christian and husband Tony Noya and children Lexi and Hudson; Brynne Daniels and Jacob Doss; daughter Tamara and husband Don Bunner and children Brittany and husband Matthew White and children Hadleigh, Lainey, and Weston; Trey and wife Joni Lopez and daughter Emery; Eric Bunner; and Mandy O’Neill and daughter Mady.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home.

Services will be officiated by Pastor Dr. Travis Summerlin on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Taylor City Cemetery graveside services. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles ‘Chuck’ Olbrich, Ryan Olbrich, Jordan Olbrich, Brian Drummond Sr., Brian Drummond Jr.; Don Bunner; Trey Lopez; Matthew White, and Blake Kitchens.

Friends and family are invited to United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Thrall on 204 Sheldon Ave. following the interment for visiting and lunch. Memorials may be made to Gideons Bible of Williamson County, PO Box 2573, Georgetown, TX 78627 or donations to Kindred at Home Hospice, 2913 Williams Drive, Suite 320, Georgetown, TX 78628.
