Willard Adolph Thaler, 81, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at San Gabriel Rehab and Care Center in Round Rock, Texas.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2016, from
6–8 PM at Providence Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 16, 2016, at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
Willard was born Friday, April 12, 1935 to Herbert Oscar and Ella (Walther) Thaler in Taylor, Texas.
He was baptized in1935 and confirmed in 1949, in the Lutheran faith at St. John Lutheran Church, Thrall, Texas.
Willard served in the United States Army – from 1958 – 1960. He met Mary Zbranek Strmiska in 1997 and was united in marriage July 11, 2007.
Willard served for many years as an associate member of the Thorndale Fire Department and 17 years with the Thrall Fire Department. He was a farmer until retirement.
Willard loved to dove and deer hunt, dance and listen to live music and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herbert Amos Thaler.
Willard is survived by his wife, Mary; step-daughters, Pat Mills and husband Mike and Diane Melley and husband Gerald; step-grandchildren, Nickolas and Lance Mills; Jacqueline, Brianna, Danielle, Christine Melley; and great-grandson, Christopher Joseph Osland.
Pallbearers will be Mark Falke, Larry Stefek, Rick Urbanek, Duane Danek, Edwin Marek, and Randy Hehmann. Honorary Pallbearers will be his step-grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall Texas or the charity of your choice.
