Edward “Stick” Goetz, 73, passed away from this life peacefully on September 11, 2016.
Edward was born to the parents of Albert and Gertrude Rudlof Goetz in Taylor, Texas He attended Coupland School thru 8th grade and finished school at Taylor High School. He received a scholarship in basketball to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and continued his education at Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth, Texas.
On July 23, 1966, he married Frances Fischer Goetz. During their married life they enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and skiing with his son and all the nieces and nephews. Edward was a kind, caring, and compassionate person.
He is survived by his wife Frances, son, Clayton and granddaughter Haylie Goetz; sisters, Elaine Blakeman, Margaret Miller and son Jason Miller, numerous nieces and nephews. Edward is preceded in death by his son, Clinton Goetz, mother and father, Gertrude and Albert Goetz.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church 3505 N. Main St. Taylor, Texas with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Church Cemetery in Coupland, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Randall Fischer, Jason Miller, Johnny Cain, Jim Werner, Gary Dodson, and Steve Cornell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran TH Johnson Road Fund or a Charity of your choice
