Thomas Robert Conn, Sr.

July 22, 1931 — August 19, 2016

Thomas (Tom) R. Conn, Sr., age 85, of Taylor passed away Friday, August 19, 2016, in Temple. He was born in Granger on July 22, 1931 to the late Foy and Nellie Conn.

Tom made his home in Taylor. He served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant, worked at the Texas Highway Department, and owned and operated RR Barber Shop before his retirement.

He enjoyed collecting coins, working puzzles, reading and spending time with friends and family. He especially enjoyed spending his mornings and afternoons drinking coffee with his McDonald's coffee buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ramon and Charles and his sister Connie.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene Randig Conn; his daughter Barbara Johle; his son Thomas Conn, Jr and his wife Charity, Grandchildren Andy Conn, Jennifer Taylor, Mark Johle, Laura Garnett, Courtney and Taylor Stinson. He was blessed with three Great Grandchildren, Jack and twins Beth and Leah Taylor.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 5:00-7:00 at Providence Funeral Home. The celebration of his Life will be Wednesday, August 24 at 10:00 AM at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers are Brian Bonnet, Andy Conn and The McDonald's Coffee Drinkers.

Pallbearers will be Parke Davidson, Chris Dille, Jack Garnett, Larry George, Mark Johle, Jimmie Sheppard, Kevin Randig, and Matt Taylor.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Cardiology and the Intensive Care Units at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
