Martha Marie Faykus passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born to John and Emma (Quebe) Synatzske on February 19, 1927. Martha married Alvin Faykus, Sr. on August 9, 1947.
Martha was a hard working woman – in addition to taking care of her family, she hand made soap to wash their clothes and helped in the fields. When she was not working, she enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, puzzles, board games with her grandchildren and bingo. She was dedicated to her church and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan.
Martha is predeceased by her parents, her husband and son-in-law Leon Burrier. Martha is survived by her children Alvin Faykus, Jr. and wife Patty, Glenn Faykus and wife Tennie, Ralph Faykus and wife Shirley and Maxine Burrier; her grandchildren Kimberly Zycha and husband Mike, Amy Leon and husband Nicholas, Darrell Faykus and Christy Endicott and husband Frank and five great-grandchildren.
She loved the residents and staff at Will-O-Bell Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff at Will-O-Bell and hospice.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M.
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
