Florene Hehman McCormick passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016. She was born on November 15, 1940 in Taylor, Texas to Robert and Lorena (Brinkmeyer) Hehman. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith at the Prince of Peace Wuthrich Hill Lutheran Church in Taylor.
Florene retired from the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation after 30 years of faithful service and 10 years with the former Texas Highway Department.
She loved all sports but was especially fond of the University of Texas sports program. She loved the home football games and had season tickets from 1987 to present. Her long-time friend, Barbara, also a lover of the Longhorns, enjoyed the games with her.
She cherished her trips with her daughter to London, France, Italy as well as trips to Baltimore and Atlanta.
Another love of hers was painting in oils. She also enjoyed playing golf with her golf buddies every week, weather permitting. She enjoyed nature and loved to work in her yard. She installed bird feeders so she could watch the birds and had identified over 20 species that came to dine. Her best little furry friend was Roscoe, a rescued Shih-Tzu.
She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, Lorena Hejl; soul mate and husband, Paul, cherished daughter and husband, Jennifer and David Boedeker, and her pride and joy grandchildren, Joshua, Catherine and Sarah, as well as many cousins.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 12, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Florene’s memory.
