Johnny Ray Sanford of Taylor, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016. Johnny is predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Pamela Sanford of Taylor, sons Robert Sanford of Georgetown and Travis Sanford (Samantha) of Taylor, sisters Billie Maness of Sealy and Rita Anderson of Dallas, father-in-law Robert Clem (Daphne) Leatherman of Taylor, sister-in-law Rita (Bob) Cocke and daughter Rebecca of Taylor, brother-in-law Duane (Kathleen) Leatherman and son Daniel of Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnny married Pamela Leatherman in Round Rock on June 2, 1973. He was a proud Army spouse and traveled with his wife of 43 years during her Army career until her retirement in 1992. He was a very involved stay at home parent from 1983-2001.

Johnny was a member of the Taylor I.S.D. School Board of Trustees for 12 years, the Zoning Board of Adjustments for 15+ years, the Taylor I.S.D. Special Olympics for 10+ years, the Walnut Creek Optimist Club for 20+ years where he served 2 terms as President and the Taylor Chamber of Commerce. He attended City Council Meetings and was often seen riding his motorcycle with sidecar. Johnny was also active in real estate in Taylor in the 1980’s.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Taylor ISD Special Olympics in memory of Johnny Sanford.
