Mary Lucy (Diebel) Mager of Hutto passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 at the age of 91. Mary was born in Type, Texas on June 6, 1925 to Arthur and Dora (Denkeler) Diebel. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Coupland, Texas. After graduating from Coupland High School in 1942 she attended Durham Business College in Austin. On December 31, 1950, she married the love of her life Clarence Mager. They were blessed with one son, Mark. Mary was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she faithfully and actively served her Lord.
Mary worked at Camp Swift during WWII, then for Johns Community Hospital, and retired from the City of Hutto after 16 years as city secretary. She was humbled when the City of Hutto renamed one of the streets “Mager Lane“in her honor. She enjoyed playing “42” dominos, crossword puzzles, and she made the best pralines! One of Mary’s most happy occasions was the dedication of the historical marker in 2001 at Mager Cemetery near Beyersville, Texas. Mary was responsible for the research on the cemetery and making this historical preservation possible.
Mary is survived by sister-in-law Lucille (Krueger) Diebel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; son, Mark; brother, Ernest, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Walter and Alice Bittner, and Emanuel and Hilda Anderson.
