Lonnie L. Marburger, Jr.

December 8, 1933 — June 11, 2016

Lonnie Leonard Marburger Jr. of Taylor, passed away Saturday, June 11, peacefully with his family by his side.

Lonnie was born December 8, 1933 in Coupland, Tx, to Leona (Ging) and Lonnie Marburger. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1951. He married Marlene Talley on June 14, 1953.

Lonnie grew up in Coupland and attended Elgin schools. After he met and married Marlene, they resided in Houston, Texas. From Houston, they moved to Taylor, where he and his family have lived for 51 years. Lonnie was a humble, yet hard worker, which he instilled in all of his daughters and grandchildren. He worked for Dow Chemical for 5 years, and after retiring from American General after 33 years, he worked at Intercraft for 10 years, was a guard at the Taylor prison for 1 year, and worked at HEB in the seafood department for a year. Since then, he always kept busy in the yard. His hobbies included gardening, fishing (beach trips), hunting and anything involving his family. He was famous for his cooking, especially his special breakfast tacos. He cherished his moments with his family. His daughters (his dolls) were his “boys”. He taught all of his daughters and grandchildren to fish and hunt. So many beautiful memories were shared during many deer seasons, and beach and lake trips spent together. He loved to joke and laugh with everyone. His true ability to build relationships with anyone he came in contact with is a treasure no one could replace. Lonnie always thought of others before himself and would do anything, not only for the ones he loved, but anyone he may have just met.

Survivors include his wife, 3 days short of 63 years of marriage, Marlene Marburger, his daughters Becky Marburger, Sharon Marcon and husband David, Vickie Marshall and husband Chris, granddaughters Ryan Marshall and Mallory Marcon, grandsons Brady Marshall and Seth Marcon (all of Taylor), brother Rodney Marburger and wife Peggy, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is proceeded in death by his father and mother Lonnie Marburger Sr. and Leona Marburger, and daughter, Pam Marburger.

Visitation will be June 15th, at 1:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, TX, with services immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial will be at St Peters Cemetery in Coupland, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers are Chris Marshall, David Marcon, Lawrence Urbis, Dorman Crenwelge, and Harry Burke.
