Doris H. Meiske

Doris Schroeder Meiske, 96, went to her heavenly home June 12, 2016 following a short illness.

Doris was born to Theo and Emma (Wuthrich) Schroeder on May 23, 1920 at home in the Waterloo Community. She was baptized August 22, 1920 and confirmed April 14, 1935 at St. James Evangelical Luther Church. On December 4, 1941 Doris was united in marriage to Alfred Meiske. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

As a homemaker, Doris enjoyed cooking and baking. One of her specialties was her cookies. Doris loved to sew and created many items for her home including beautiful quilts. She also took pleasure in growing flowers and plants.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theo and Emma Schroeder; sisters, Selma, Nora, and Ruby; and a brother, Roy.

Doris is survived by her husband of 74 years Alfred Meiske; daughter, Bonnie George and husband Kenneth of Taylor; grandchildren, Brandon and Julianne George of Dehradun, India and Jalyn and Eric Morris of Georgetown; great grandchildren, Kyper and Braxton George of Dehradun, India; sister, Rosa Meadowes of Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
