Richard Jacob Ivicic of Taylor, Texas passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday June 3, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer.
Richard was born May 28, 1944 in Holland, Texas to Alma (Gommert) & Rudy Ivicic Sr. He graduated from Holland High School in 1962. He joined the Marines in 1963 and was stationed aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and received an Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant in 1967. He married Lance Corporal Mary Ann Prados of Honolulu, Hawaii in Sept of 1966. In 1968 he started working for Alcoa in Rockdale, Texas in the Potrooms and advanced to Supervisor before retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Taylor Jaycees and St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his family at Inks Lakes and beach trips to Port Aransas. He enjoyed playing cards & dominoes with his friends. His passion was watching his kids and grandkids sporting events and boasting to anybody that would listen. He never met a stranger, and loved engaging in conversation about his family. He spent the last 16 years living at Granger Lake as a gate attendant and volunteer, where his skills for cleaning & mowing served the Army Corps of Engineers very well. He and his wife belonged to Lone Star Travelers, an RV group, and enjoyed their adventures with this group when they could get away.
Survivors include his wife Mary of nearly 50 years, his daughter, Wendy Brooks-Sakewitz & husband Clay of Taylor, his sons Todd Ivicic & wife Deborah of San Antonio, and Wade Ivicic & wife Cindy (Tovar) of Taylor, his grandchildren Eric Brooks, Dawson Brooks & Keragan Brooks, Christopher Ivicic, Lily & Logan Flint, of San Antonio, Sarah Sakewitz-Jewett & husband Alex, Evan Sakewitz of Taylor, and his Great Grandson Casen Jewett of Taylor. His sister, Linda Boyett & husband Doyce of Houston. And many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alma & Rudy Ivicic Sr, brothers Rudy (Buddy) Ivicic Jr, David Ivicic, and his sisters Carolyn Coker & Marie Michalka.
Visitation and Rosary will be Saturday the 11th of June from 6pm to 8pm at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor.
Funeral Services will be Sunday the 12th of June at 2pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor. Burial will follow in Holland, Texas. There will be a reception immediately following the funeral at the KC Hall in Taylor. Pall Bearers are Eric Brooks, Dawson Brooks, Evan Sakewitz, Paul Larson, Bobby Blagg, Jimmy Hicks, Jackie Sadler, and Mark Ivicic. Honorary Pall Bearers are Logan Pausewang, Carl Larson, Christopher Ivicic and Logan Flint.
