Elaine Poldrack

Elaine was born on March 9, 1936 in Taylor, Texas to Eloise and Delma Hammack. She attended Taylor High School, Baylor University and graduated from Houston Baptist University.

Elaine enjoyed teaching high school Biology in Houston and Richardson.
Nelson was the love of her life and for 60 years they have been devoted to one another and their Christian faith. Elaine was a loving and attentive mother to Barbara and Steve, patient and steady.

Family traditions, baking, needlepoint and Aggie football were favorite pastimes and wrote books about two of them. She lovingly stitched her grandchildren's treasured Christmas stockings, and always had a creative project in progress.

Elaine's faith and church were central in her life. She readily shared the gospel with her family, friends and anyone lucky enough to know her. She wanted to be an encourager and she certainly was, always thinking of others before herself.

A loyal friend and confidant, she joyfully maintained those relationships with calls and sweet notes. Elaine's High School girlfriends were still visiting her regularly.

On May 23rd the Lord took her to Heaven where she is now whole and free of pain. She is survived by Nelson, Steve, Barbara and her husband, Preston. Her sister Carolyn Rector and husband Carey. Grandchildren Justin and wife Allison, Kyle, Katie and husband Cullen. As well as her precious great grandchildren Caroline, Rowan, Crawford, June and Fisher.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Holy Word Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas
