Jerry was born on March 28, 1945 to Sylvester Everett Frank and Grace Hunt Frank in Bainbridge, New York. Throughout his life, Jerry knew and appreciated the value of hard work. He grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York where the typical workday started well before sunup and lasted until well past sundown. The parents of his future bride, Judy, purchased the Franks’ dairy farm in the spring of 1961. Later, Jerry would joke that his marriage to Judy was “a part of the deal.” The two were married on July 10, 1966, in Deposit, New York.
Jerry and Judy had their first child, Dawn Marie, in 1971, followed by Todd Wayne in 1973 and Dixie Mae in 1976. In the fall of 1978, Jerry and Judy decided it was time for a change of scenery (as Jerry tells it, he was looking for a place where he would never spend another winter shoveling snow). Jerry and Judy sold their house, bought a motor home, and took their young family to Round Rock, Texas. Having found his permanent home in Texas, Jerry quickly acclimated to the history and traditions of his adopted state.
Jerry loved all things mechanical and had a natural mechanical talent. He restored classic cars, repaired Power King tractors, worked as a mechanic, and owned several car-related businesses. Today, Jerry’s son, Todd, is the owner and operator of Jerry’s Garage in Round Rock, Texas.
Jerry was a man of his word, a family man, and a Christian who loved and honored God, his church, and his country. When Jerry first came to Texas, he joined Round Rock Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon. Later, after moving to Taylor, Jerry became a member of Highway 95 Church of Christ, where his deviled eggs were always a hit at the church luncheons. A true patriot, Jerry prayed for his country and always made a point to include the men and women who served in the military in those prayers.
Though we miss Jerry dearly, it is only the passing of his earthly body that we mourn. Jerry’s true self, his spirit, has been taken to his heavenly reward with Our Lord Jesus Christ. For this reason, we do not truly mourn, for Jerry is not truly gone; rather, we rejoice in celebration of his new eternal life.
