Rufino M. Ortiz, “Pop”, age 69, loving husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2016.
He was married to the love of his life Lupe Salazar since September 28th 1964. Together they had 10 children. Family was the most important thing to him. He taught each of his children the meaning of hard work. He also loved going out to eat and watching the Cowboys to see if any of his numbers would hit. His grandchildren adored him, for which he had a nickname for each one of them. He worked for Taylor Motor Company for 25 years before eventually opening up his own towing business until retirement.
He is survived by his wife Lupe, his 10 children and spouses Michael (Christine), Edward “Toyo”, Mary “Beb”, Becky (Edward), Rudy (Delia), Robert (Kim), Danny (Alma), Ricky, David (Nicole), and Stephanie (John). He also leaves behind 23 grandchildren Mikey, Ryan, Chelsea, Edward Jr., Julian Nicky, JJ (Anna), Alyssa, Andy, Angel, Ethan, Brianna, Ariel, Lani, Daniella, Amy, Matt, Laylon, David Jr., Alayna, Adrianna, Devin, Eli. and 2 great grandchildren Audrey and Angelina.
He also leaves behind siblings Isabel Banda, Minnie Torres, Mary Moya, Paula Concha, and Irene Ortiz.
Rufino was preceded in death by his parents Rufino Sr. and Noberta Ortiz. He also joined brothers Ramon, Tito and Cleto and sister Carmen Alderete.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Monday, March 21, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery. Pall bearers are grandchildren Mikey, Ryan, JJ, Nicky, Edward, Julian, Matt, David Jr. and Ethan.
