On February 23, 2016, Heaven gained a beautiful Angel, Mamie Meyer Danek, age 96 of Taylor TX was called home to join our Heavenly Father.
Mamie was born on November 4, 1919 to Andrew Meyer and Ida Teichelman Meyer in Taylor TX.
October, 2, 1944, Mamie was united in marriage with Rudolph F. Danek Jr and they were blessed with two children, Duane and Debbie.
She is survived by her son Duane Danek and wife Arleen of Taylor, grandchildren Kyle Danek, Chase Danek, and Brittany Knox all of Taylor, great grandchildren Kierra Danek and Bryce Danek.
She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew & Ida Meyer, her husband Rudolph F. Danek Jr, daughter Debra Ann Danek Knox and sisters Dorothy Percy and Ethel Wiley.
Mamie graduated from Taylor High School in 1937 and worked for Swift & Company as a secretary. She is well known by many when she managed Quick Way Grocery on 2nd St in Taylor for 30 years until her retirement.
Mamie was a gracious, sweet and loving person who had the pleasure of a long wonderful life, experiencing many historical events. She enjoyed dancing in her younger years, tending to her flowers, taking care of her grandsons when they were young, and watching them play in their sporting events. Spending time with family and friends were important to her. She enjoyed annual birthday outings with her sisters Dorothy and Ethel and niece Cathy.
Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday February 26, 2016 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Paul Lutheran Church Child Development Center Building Fund, 401 W 7th St, Taylor TX 76574.
