Mr. Nathaniel (Papa Smurf) Blue, Sr. was born April 6, 1933 to the parentage of Albert (Nap) Blue and Pinkie King Blue in Lee County, Texas.
He departed his earthly building on Monday, February 15, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife (Ora Lee Darden Blue), and his second wife (Jessie Mae Jackson).
Other love ones who preceded Nathaniel in death are brothers (Clarence, Isaac and Albert Blue); sisters (Erma Blue, Leola Blue, Laveria Blue Moss and Etta Mae Blue Montez).
Nathaniel received an honorable discharge from the United States Army after two years of service. He worked for the Allen Construction Company of San Antonio, Texas for 15 years. He helped in the construction of highways throughout Texas. Nathaniel was part of the crew that built the overpass over the railroad tracks on Highway 95 in Taylor. Nathaniel had a great sense of humor and is known for his humorous stories and jokes.
Mr. Blue leaves cherished memories with his brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Hattie (White) Blue; brother, George Sims and sister, Levera Sims Cleveland, all of Granger, Texas; sisters, Cleo Scott and Minnie Sims of Austin, Texas.
He remains in the hearts of one son, Nathaniel Blue Darden (Ruby) of Taylor; three daughters: Florence Blue Darden Fields of Round Rock, Vera Blue Fields (David, Sr.) of Taylor, and Martha Gail Hunt of Austin; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Providence Funeral Home with burial to follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
